How Was Your Summer Sailstice Weekend? Ernie Galvan Replied
You can pack a lot into a summer sailing weekend. In our Monday story on the Summer Sailstice weekend, we asked what others did to sail for that weekend. Ernie Galvan replied with a full weekend of sailing.

“Had a great Sailstice weekend. Saturday, with Kirk Smith and Dolores Shotton, raced Kirk’s Alerion 28 Dream in SFYC’s Hank Easom Regatta at Point Knox. While hanging post-race at SFYC, I got a text from my brother that he was on a six-hour layover at SFO. We arranged to meet up with him at Richmond Yacht Club for a quick sail. While he Ubered over to RYC, we sailed past the Matthew Turner furling her topsails in Raccoon Strait. Met my brother Dennis at RYC and we sailed over to the Cityfront in 20 knots. (You can see all of us bundled up in the photo.) Dropped him off at StFYC to catch his ride back to the airport and had a beautiful sunset singlehanded run through Raccoon Strait with the flood back home to RYC.

“Sunday, spent the day on RYC’s Pelican timing starts for the BAYS 1 Regatta Southampton course. Got to enjoy the awesome spectacle of 14 pairs of youngsters braving big winds in C420s. All 14 boats sailed through three tough races.” — Ernie Galvan.
That’s a full sailing weekend that included a regatta, a spontaneous recreational sail and volunteering for a youth-sailing race committee.

What are people planning for this next weekend? We know the YRA’s Half Moon Bay Race is happening. See more of what’s going on in our sailing calendar online. You can also crack open the print calendar you have handy at home, or see it online here.
