Stolen Boat Reported

Reader Carl King reports on a friend’s boat recently stolen from South Beach Harbor. He asks, “Kindly be on the lookout for my friend’s stolen Cascade 34, stolen from South Beach Harbor between the 14th and today, the 25th (of February). It was lettered with the name of the boat Kinship, but sometimes thieves will paint over or remove those. It is unique in that it has a canoe stern and dark-blue stripe. Apparently there was another boat stolen from that harbor recently as well. A takeaway may be to hide an AirTag on your vessel; friends had a Boston Whaler stolen and were able to recover it from Antioch.”

I have an AirTag in my boat, so I always know where it is wherever I am

Very few things in life will cause a sailor anguish. Having thieves leave a hole in the water where your boat used to be is one of them ! I had a cal 25 mk-2 that was my pride and joy ,next to my family . I went down to the dock one afternoon and it was gone. I went into shock. I kept going back to where it used to be, but it wasn’t there. I borrowed a friend’s airplane and flew up and down theColumbia for two days looking for it I actually went into a slight depression, and then like a miracle ,it reappeared on the other side of the island . secured to The very end of the dock . A few things were missing including a relatively new Honda 10 hp outboard but all in all not so bad. The insurance company was very helpful but I can sympathize with you very much, sir. I hope you find her in as good as shape as I did when my. Boat was recovered .
