Oh, Deere! It’s Caption Contest(!) Time
Remember that playground nursery rhyme, “Here comes a candle to light you to bed. Here comes the chopper to …?” Hideous! But we all sang along. The photo below brought the tune right back to the present time. “Here comes the crusher to crush your boat.” OK, it doesn’t rhyme. Perhaps you can do better? No one likes to see a boat meet its end this way, so we thought maybe you could cheer us up by bringing some mirth to this otherwise sad scenario.

Thanks to Niels Kisling, Santa Cruz YC member from Capitola, who sent in the photo. Niels gets the ball rolling. “Nothing Crushes like a Deere ….”

Here comes the Chopper to chop up my boat,
I didn’t pay the rent and it won’t even float.
I’ll close my eyes and kneel and pray,
I’ll shake my head not knowing what to say.
But when I stand and it’s s all said and done,
I’ll search Classy Classified and buy another one!
Wait! I have an endangered species of mold living inside!
OK, guys, it’s crunch time!
Not a caption, but boat appears to be an Ackerman Newporter, built in Costa Mesa in the late 50’s. Grew up sailing on one! “Leprachaun” still in So. Cal I think. Lot’s of memories

Too bad my last hug is not by a CAT
Here, kitty, kitty! I just want to pet you….
Smash me up, break me down,
Turn me into pieces all over the ground.
It doesn’t matter; I do not fret,
I sailed a good life, with no regret.
Spending my days on the open water,
Now it’s time for my soul to wander.
Busy day at the boat ramp. I decided to take a shortcut, oops forgot the trailer.
Bill learned to this rue, to NOT ignore Karen at DMV when she sends an expired tag notice.
Yuk, yuk! I hope there’s those yummy Toredo worms inside! They’re sooo tasty!
Hi! I seem to have run aground. Are you here to help me?

Oh Deere! What can the matter be?
We went sailing on Saturday…
Deere, Deere please don’t get mad at me…
We sailed too close to lee shore…
Now we won’t sail anymore!
Bury it deep to keep the critters from chewing on it!
