YouTube Sailors Visit Bay Area (Last Summer)
My family and I have avidly followed YouTube channel Ran Sailing for several years since this Swedish couple, Johan and Malin, untied the lines and set sail from Sweden in winter 2016. More »
Latitude Nation: What’ve You Been DIY-ing Lately?
Like the arrival of the rain, the setting of the sun and the rotation of planets, so too comes work on the boat. The project may be something you’ve been meaning to do, or something that broke on your last sail. More »
Take a Quick Scroll to the Bottom of the Ocean
Did you know that emperor penguins can dive 1,700-ish feet? Do you know how deep a human being has dived (and when)? What’s the largest type of crab? Who were the first people to take a submarine into the Mariana Trench? More »

Jeanne Socrates Cruises Through the West Coast
One of our favorite singlehanders is on a whirlwind West Coast tour — but not by boat.
“The reason for being in the Bay Area was an invitation to Cruising Club of America’s awards dinner on Wednesday [December 4] evening, where I was presented with their special recognition award for my fourth circumnavigation,” Socrates wrote us in an email. More »
