Mystery Delta PhotoAugust 17 - 'The Delta' The 'Delta' photo above is actually taken in the delta area to the west of Rome - near the da Vinci Airport - where a visitor begins to get an inkling of just how crazy the Italians are for sailing. There are numerous natural waterways, and they are jammed with every size and kind of sailboat you can imagine, both in the water and on the hard. And just a winch-handle's throw away is the new Il Porto Di Roma, a spanking new 800-berth marina, that's more than just a marina, but a total waterfront destination. You can buy a berth at Il Porto Di Roma for as much as 929,250,000 lira - which sounds like a king's ransom, but with lira you can never tell for sure. Not far from the Il Porto Di Roma is the Ostia Antica, or ancient port. There's a lot of history there. |

Weather UpdatesAugust 17 - Caribbean Sea Chantal a Wimp in Eastern CaribbeanThe quiet Atlantic/Caribbean hurricane region appeared as though it might be picking up yesterday with Tropical Storm Chantal. Thankfully, the unusually fast-moving tropical storm deformed down to a 25-knot tropical depression, and has already passed the sailing centers of the Eastern Caribbean. May she continue to fizzle.
